Herbert Wörner, PhD, Adviser to the Board

Herbert Wörner has been working as external partner for Monitor consultants, Boston, and for Munich, Shanghai and Mumbai-based Euro Asia Consulting since 2001. Wörner sat on the supervisory boards of various DAX companies, and is currently serving in that capacity at logistics services group RLG and its CCR subsidiary. At RLG, he is a shareholder, too.

Wörner has studied business administration in Würzburg and Mannheim, Germany, as well as in London. After completing a doctorate in economics at the University of Mannheim, he went to BASF in Ludwigshafen to work as a corporate marketing executive for several years, before he became managing director of a medium-sized metalworking company in 1972.

In late 1977, Wörner joined the corporate planning and control department of German technology provider Bosch in Stuttgart. From 1978 to 1980, he was finance and administrative director of the Junkers division, then chief executive of Bosch’s Austrian subsidiary until 1985.

Back in Stuttgart, Wörner took charge of the group’s central sales department. In 1987, he became CEO of BSH Bosch & Siemens Home Appliances. Towards the end of his term, he was responsible for 37,000 employees and DEM 12.3 billion (EUR 6.3 billion) in revenue.
